Solemnity March 19

Prayer To St. Joseph for Protection

Gracious St. Joseph, protect me and my family from all evil as you did the Holy Family. Kindly keep us ever united in the love of Christ, ever fervent in imitation of the virtue of our Blessed Lady, your sinless spouse, and always faithful in devotion to you. Amen.

Memorare to St. Joseph

Remember, O most chaste Spouse of the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, my beloved patron, that never hath it been heard that anyone invoked thy patronage and sought thine aid without being comforted. Inspired by this confidence, I come to thee and fervently commend myself to thee. Despise not my petition, dear foster-father of our Redeemer, but accept it graciously. Amen.

St. Joseph, the husband of Mary and the foster father of Jesus, was a carpenter by trade. Although he lead a humble life, he came from a royal lineage, descended from David, King of Israel.

Joseph was a devoted husband and father who protected his family through his faith and obedience to God. When an angel came to warn him that his family was in danger he took them out of Bethlehem into Egypt where he waited until the angel told him it was safe to return.

St. Joseph is the patron of the dying, the universal Church, fathers, carpenters, and social justice.

Two feast days are celebrated for Joseph:

March 19 — for Joseph, the Husband of Mary and

May 1for Joseph the Worker.

Saint Joseph was a just man, a tireless worker, the upright guardian of those entrusted to his care. May he always guard, protect and enlighten families.

Pope John Paul II:

REDEMPTORIS CUSTOS Pope John Paul II - Apostolic Exhortation - On the Person and Mission of Saint Joseph in the Life of Christ and the Church - 15 August 1989

What emanates from the figure of Saint Joseph is faith...Joseph of Nazareth is a "just man" because he totally "lives by faith." He is holy because his faith is truly heroic.

Sacred Scripture says little of him. It does not record even one word spoken by Joseph, the carpenter of Nazareth. And yet, even without words, he shows the depth of his faith, his greatness.

Saint Joseph is a man of great spirit. He is great in faith, not because he speaks his own words, but above all because he listens to the words of the Living God. He listens in silence. And his heart ceaselessly perseveres in the readiness to accept the Truth contained in the word of the Living God.

We see how the word of the Living God penetrates deeply into the soul of that man, that just man. And we, do we know how to listen to the word of God? Do we know how to absorb it into the depths of our human personalities? Do we open our conscience in the presence of this word?

Pope John Paul II from Daily Meditations

1900 YEAR-OLD NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH:

O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in thee all my interests and desires. O, St. Joseph, do assist me by thy powerful intercession, and obtain for me from thy Divine Son, all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ Our Lord; so that having engaged here below thy powerful intercession, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of fathers. O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating thee and Jesus asleep in thy arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near thy heart. Press Him in my name, and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. O St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen.

Say for 9 mornings for anything you want. It has been seldom known to fail. Whoever reads this prayer, hears it read, or carries it, will never die a sudden death, nor be drowned, nor will poison take effect in them. They will not fall into the hands of the enemy, nor be burned in any fire, nor will they be defeated in battle. This prayer should be made known everywhere.

You'll Never Walk Alone

When you walk through a storm hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.
